Italy enjoyed the perfect start with an opening try in the 14th minute. France though levelled the score at 7-7 just before the half hour mark, but Veronica Schiavon’s penalty gave the hosts a slender 10-7 lead at half time. The score remained that way until six minutes from time when France denied the Italians the win they craved following Hayate Chrouki’s try, converted by Aurélie Bailon.

Mellissa Berry and her team mates wrote themselves into the history books by winning the Triple Crown for the very first time since the national team was formed 22 years ago when Wales defeated Ireland 13-10 at Taffs Well in a Six Nations championship clash.

>> England Women crowned RBS 6 Nations Champions

England Women retained their RBS 6 Nations crown on Saturday at London Welsh RFC, and in doing so became the first women’s team to ever record four back-to-back Six Nations titles.

Gary Street’s side inflicted a punishing 72-3 victory on Scotland, which saw them run in 12 tries, with Worcester wing Katherine Merchant touching down a massive four times and Saracens’ Charlotte Barras also adding a hat-trick. England led 29-0 at half-time, leaving Scotland with a mammoth task after the restart.
